The FNETB is one of 21 Local Boards in Ontario. The FNETB is a non-profit community-based organization that brings together business, labour, educators and trainers and community representatives to work collaboratively to identify and develop solutions to address labour market needs. The Local Board initiative began in 1994 and is jointly funded by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The area serviced by the FNETB encompasses the communities along the Highway 11 Corridor from Hearst to Latchford, east of Kirkland Lake it extends to the Quebec border and it includes the communities of Timmins, Chapleau, Gogama, Elk Lake, Hornepayne, Moosonnee, Moose Factory, Fort Albany, Attawapiskat, Kashechewan and Peawanuk. The role of the FNETB is to engage communities and community partners in local labour market development. By conducting and analyzing local labour market research, trends and planning processes, the FNETB develops community partnerships to find solutions to local issues.
