Timmins, ON—More than 40 local businesses, organizations and individuals have been officially announced as finalists for the Timmins Chamber of Commerce’s 2015 Nova Business Excellence Awards, the region’s biggest celebration of entrepreneurial achievement. A panel of six independent community judges narrowed a record-breaking 140 nominations down to three finalists in each of 14 categories. Representing some of the best and brightest of Timmins’ business community, these finalists will be celebrated at the Nova Awards’ gala evening, to be held at the McIntyre Arena on April 16. Now in its 13th year, the annual awards gala recognizes the many success stories of Timmins’ business community, and their positive impact on the region. The high-quality nominees for this year’s awards are an especially good examples of business’ crucial role in making the city a great place to work, live and play, said Al Thorne, president of the Timmins Chamber of Commerce. “Timmins is recognized internationally for our business expertise, and that’s certainly come through in the incredible nominations we received this year,” said Thorne. “When you look over the list of finalists, it’s easy to see how that excellence shines in so many different sectors. The record number of submissions speaks to the community’s tremendous pride in their achievements, and we’re equally eager to celebrate them on April 16.” This year’s gala evening will feature a “cirque” theme, because much like the Big Top, the Nova Awards shine a spotlight on Timmins’ best and brightest, said Thorne. “Fundamentally, the Nova Awards are all about showcasing the businesses that help to make Timmins great,” said Thorne. “They strengthen our community in countless ways, from providing jobs to local workers to sponsoring sports teams and charitable organizations. We believe that paying homage to their contributions is an important tradition, and it’s one we’re more than happy to continue again this year.” Tickets to the gala event are $100 plus HST, or $85 plus HST for Chamber members; tables of 10 are available. Ticket reservations can be made via email at [email protected].
