TIMMINS, May 29, 2014 –With the provincial election looming, the Timmins Chamber of Commerce is offering the public a chance to learn more about their choices at a Meet the Candidates event on Wednesday, June 4. To be held at O’Gorman High School at 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m., this free event will allow the public to submit questions for the candidates for the Timmins-James Bay riding. Questions pre-submitted by Chamber members will also be considered. Participating in the event are candidates Gilles Bisson (Ontario New Democratic Party), Steve Black (Ontario Progressive Conservative Party) and Sylvie Fontaine (Ontario Liberal Party). “As a service being offered to the public by the business members of the Timmins Chamber of Commerce, this event is a timely opportunity to hear from the riding’s future political representatives on matters and issues that concern residents,” said Chamber President Phil Barton. “We are an apolitical organization, but we believe that everyone is well served by learning about all candidates and their platforms.” The format of the event will allow each candidate one minute to answer each question from moderator Cheryl St-Amour, who will curate the written questions submitted by attendees. The public can submit questions in advance to [email protected].
