The Royal Canadian Air Force celebrates 100 years today! April 1st 2024! In 1924, the Canadian Air Force, was granted the "Royal" title, becoming the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). At the start there were only about 62 permanent members, but by the time the Second World War had come around - that number had grown and approximately 250 000 RCAF personnel served in the war. That also included approximately 17,000 women. Here's to a century of aviation excellence and service. Thank you to all who served and sacrificed and who continue to serve today!

The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) conducted operations in Afghanistan for more than 12 years, across a number of different roles involving air, land, and sea assets. Since the beginning of the mission, more than 40,000 CAF members were deployed to Afghanistan, many more than once, making the military engagement the largest deployment of CAF personnel since the Second World War. Tomorrow will mark the 10 year anniversary of Canada’s mission in Afghanistan coming to an end. Legion Magazine has put together an interactive story chronicling and reflecting on Canada’s role in Afghanistan, 10 years after operations ceased. https://lnkd.in/eSGrVgXp

The Gulf War of the early 1990’s was a conflict well-known to many. More than 4,000 Canadian Armed Forces members served in the Persian Gulf region in 1990-1991 as part of the international Coalition of countries that came together to drive the invading forces of Iraq out of Kuwait. On February 28, Coalition forces ceased the offensive and offered a cease-fire which Iraq accepted on March 3. To learn more, visit: https://lnkd.in/eRrc5vg7
