About us
Since 1888, De Beers Group has been involved in all aspects of the diamond business. From its mining operations across Africa, and most recently Canada, the company produces about 35 per cent of the world’s supply of rough diamonds. De Beers has been active in Canada for more than 50 years, growing from a small group of geologists in the field to having multiple offices and operations across the country. De Beers Canada has two producing mines, and a targeted exploration strategy within Canada: - Victor Mine in Northern Ontario has been operational since July 26, 2008. - Gahcho Kué Mine, in the Northwest Territories, is a joint venture with Mountain Province Diamonds. It officially opened on September 20, 2016. - Snap Lake Mine in the NWT was placed on Care & Maintenance on December 4, 2015. - Exploration activities continue throughout Canada

Reading really does rock! Literacy is the foundation for personal and community economic success. That’s why we have focused so much of our attention to help improve literacy levels in the Northwest Territories over the past two decades: more than 60,000 books distributed to youth through Books in Homes, sponsoring the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in the NWT, providing literacy packs to dayhomes, support for Indigenous language revitalization, programs for adult learners, and so much more. We’re humbled and honored to be the 2023 recipient of the Outstanding Support for Literacy Development NWT Business Award from the GNWT department of Education, Culture and Employment. https://lnkd.in/gUr4YQ4n

NDC is here in the Northwest Territories (NWT) of Canada, the third largest diamond-producing region in the world. Like the natural diamonds found in this remote area, the Northern Lights viewed from NWT are a rare and beautiful natural phenomenon. Stay tuned in the coming months as we witness the industry’s positive impact through the lens of NDC Global Ambassador and Emmy-nominated actress Lily James. Follow our social channels for special highlights from this incredible discovery journey.
